We hope you will be as proud of our furniture as we are. With a small amount of regular maintenance, your Grain piece will give you years of Joy. We have listed some simple techniques to keep the Grain finish looking great.

Lacquer, being so durable, only requires minor maintenance. A gentle wipe with a warm damp cloth will remove most grease and dust. A light wipe with a silicone-free furniture polish will give added protection – try bees wax spray. This is also useful for covering minor scratched and scuff marks.

Waxes & Oils, wipe off dust with a clean soft cloth. For minor scratched and water marks, place a little o’cedar oil or similar on the surface and rub briskly, with 00 fine steel wool. Always rub with the grain – not across. Finish by wiping over with another clean cloth.

Lime, generally treat as lacquer and wipe over with a damp cloth, also light wipe with a silicone-free furniture polish will give added protection – try bees wax spray. If the lime finish has been coated to seal it, treat as per the finish coating. Generally it will be a Lacquer to preserve the original flat lime look. If the lime is un-coated then re-application of lime maybe necessary to repair minor damage.

Paint, with ordinary use paint should last for years with basic maintenance and cleaning. A gentle wipe with a warm damp cloth will remove most grease and dust. Minor damage and scratches can be resolved, by touching up the area with new paint as per the manufacturers instructions. Remember, all paint colours adjust with time and sun light and the original colour specified may need to be adjusted for the change.

Varnish, Wipe off dust and grit with a clean cloth and brush. While the appearance is still in good condition, a regular re-application of a light coat of the original varnish will keep the finish fresh. If the finish is flaking, the original finish needs to removed or stabilised before reapplying new coats of varnish.
